uab bank announced main sponsorship for 46th SSEAYP Myanmar

Yangon, 21st October 2019 – uab bank, Myanmar’s Best Bank by Euromoney, today announced the main sponsorship of 46th SSEAYP Myanmar Contingent. As main sponsor, uab bank will contribute towards 46th SSEAYP Myanmar funding needs that enable them to represent Myanmar culture and traditions to other ASEAN countries and to Japan.

The 46th Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Program (46th SSEAYP), will bring together more than 300 youths from Southeast Asia and Japan with a unique opportunity to live together on board the Nippon Maru Ship for 51 days. The program is organised by the Cabinet Office of Japan and supported by the governments of Southeast Asia. The main program will span from 24th October 2019 to 13th December 2019. A contingent comprising 27 participating youths (PYs) and a national leader were selected to represent Myanmar.

The signing ceremony was held at the new Head Office of uab bank at uab Tower @ Times City. As part of the program, the Myanmar contingent was given a brief overview on banking and financial services to enhance their knowledge and was given a tour of the brand-new state-of-the-art workplace that harnesses technology with open and innovative workspace.

Speaking about this sponsorship, MD & CEO of uab bank, Christopher Loh said,

uab bank is honoured to have this opportunity as the main sponsor for this year’s SSEAYP Myanmar contingent comprising 27 PYs and 1 national leader who will represent Myanmar. These 27 PYs and 1 national leader were selected and represent some of the finest youths across Myanmar. We believe the opportunity to participate in this program will enable these youths to broaden their perspective and enable them to build deep and meaningful friendships with other PYs across ASEAN and Japan. Many of these PYs eventually would take on significant roles as future leaders of Myanmar either in the public or private sector. We are proud to be on this journey with them and will continue to provide support, coaching and mentoring to them. We believe that as stewards, it is important to help the younger generation and future leaders who will in turn play a vital role in the future of Myanmar.

In its effort to humanise banking, uab bank looks forward to playing a significant part in contributing to youth empowerment and women empowerment since these are key drivers in our community for the future success of Myanmar.”

As part of this sponsorship, uab bank will also partner 46th SSEAYP Myanmar in their post-programme activity to do something meaningful for the society of Myanmar. This is expected in early 2020.
