Yangon, 9 th February 2020 – uab bank, Myanmar’s Best Bank by Euromoney, celebrated the grand opening of their Yangon Head Office at uab Towers @ Times City located on Kyun Taw Road.

Spanning three floors and 60,000 square feet at Times City Yangon, uab Tower is in the heart of the largest and most luxurious commercial development in Yangon.

The uab Carnival”, a three-day continuous celebration from 7 th to 9th February (Friday – Sunday) at Times City brought a creative arrangement of street performances, games and activities, is another benchmark that uab bank wish people in Yangon will see more often. Various entertainment programs by local and international artists marked the significance of uab bank connecting and celebrating with the people of Yangon. This public festival featured a stretch of showcases by uab partners and merchants on their products and services, Play and Connect zone with games and art showcases by local students from NUAC, and a food village with a variety of local delicacies.

Over the 3 days, the public were entertained by EDM performances by international DJs, such as Rave Radio, Wukong, stage performances by Ninzi May & Key Lashi and Zumba Dances lead by Erina.

Regarding the festival celebration, uab bank’s MD and CEO, as well as the curator of the 3-day long event, Mr. Christopher Loh said,

“The Grand Opening also coincides with the 10th anniversary of uab bank and marks an important milestone for uab bank. Fresh off being recognised by Euromoney as Myanmar’s Best Bank, uab bank has redefined its purpose to be leading the way towards a better Myanmar, humanising banking, connecting people, creating opportunities and changing lives.”

With a stronger balance sheet, profitability and capital ratio of 9.2% that is above the regulatory minimum, uab bank has charted a new strategy of “Banking by the way” and has in this week concluded numerous agreements with strategic partners that seeks to redefine banking in Myanmar.

In addition to the strategic partnerships, uab bank also launched several new products including a new couple card in partnership with UnionPay and MPU ahead of the Valentine’s Day celebration as well as a new savings account “zee gwat” that pays daily interest that is compounded monthly. Commenting on the new uab zee gwat account, Loh said “Banking in Myanmar is not always fair to the average salary worker. The current saving account of paying interest on the lowest balance in the month marginalise the average Myanmar person as they don’t have much savings by the end of the month before the next paycheck. At uab bank, we believe financial inclusion is giving Myanmar people access to a fair interest-bearing saving account that pays you interest on a daily basis.”

The uab Carnival is also our way of saying “Thank You” to our customers and celebrate with customers, friends and members of the public on a world-class corporate head office that we believe will inspire Myanmar people on the future of the country. We want uabians and all Myanmar to feel proud of this world class facility.” Loh said.

The 3-day uab Carnival culminated on February 9th with a private gala event where the invitees will be entertained by a Mogok Pauk Pauk fashion show featuring amongst others, uab bank’s new staff uniform that are designed and produced by Mogok Pauk Pauk. Special performances by Ar-T, Han Thi & Double U are also part of the line up to dazzle the distinguished guests.
