uab bank Celebrates 9th Anniversary

Myanmar 17th Aug 2019 – 16th August 2019 marks the 9th anniversary of uab and amongst the activities undertaken to celebrate this occasion was a Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner donation to students at the Kyee Myin Daing Blind House and Ka Wae Chan Blind House. Funds of 1 Million MMK was also raised to each Blind House to support those underprivileged children and youth. Since its incorporation, uab has over the last 9 years expanded and extended its footprint and currently provides service to the community through its 78 branches nationwide.

Recently in July 2019, uab was named ‘Myanmar’s Best Bank’ by Euromoney and crowned the ‘Domestic Retail Bank of the Year’ by Asian Banking & Finance. These international recognitions come soon after our achievement of being No. 1 in Corporate Governance in the 2019 TiME Pwint Thit San Report by Myanmar Center for Responsible Business.

CEO of uab bank, Mr.Christopher Loh remarked, “It gives me great pride in celebrating our 9th anniversary. We have come a long way since our first branch in Nay Pyi Taw and are very thankful to our valued customers, uabians and the public for their trust and support over these 9 years. To commemorate this special day, we are undertaking a Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner donation to approximately 400 students at Kyee Myin Daing Blind House and Ka Wae Chan Blind House. We are also having a nationwide anniversary celebration across all our branches and head office.

This is part of the “Be the Change Myanmar” initiative which we pioneered in December 2017. The uab bank “Be The Change Myanmar” programme focuses on children and women empowerment and promotes greater partnership to help strengthen community bonds. Our 9th birthday donation to these Blind Houses allow us to continue to better serve the communities under the umbrella of “Be the Change Myanmar”. At uab, giving back to the community is very close to the hearts of our people. We believe uab must operate responsibly and be committed to the community we are in.” uabians took pride today in being able to participate in the donation.
